VIDEO: Is it any wonder that Tendai Mtawarira is nicknamed ‘The Beast’?

That man suspended above his head weighs 112kg, FYI.

NEXT TIME YOU’RE in the supermarket and struggling to lift a 10kg bag of spuds to bring home for the dinner, just summon the spirit of Tendai Mtawarira and you’ll be fine.

The Springbok prop was responsible for a quite remarkable feat of athleticism while in action for the Sharks in last weekend’s Super Rugby.

Mtawarira lifted all 112 kilos of team-mate Anton Bresler to receive a kick-off. When Bresler flipped back over his head to claim the ball, Mtawarira didn’t do what 99.9% of us would do and let him crash to the floor. No, he straightened his arms and held him there before gently setting him down as players piled in around them.

Is it any wonder that Mtawarira is nicknamed “The Beast”?
