Coleman suffers 'minor soft tissue injury', Everton confirm

The Toffees defender faces a race against time to be fit for next week’s Merseyside derby.

EVERTON WILL HAVE to wait on the fitness of Seamus Coleman after the club confirmed he has suffered a ‘minor soft tissue injury’.

The Donegal defender, who has been in excellent form for the Toffees this season with six goals to his name already, limped off holding his hamstring in the 79th minute of Monday night’s 1-1 draw away to West Brom.

After being assessed by the club’s medical staff yesterday, a short statement has been released on Everton’s website:

“Seamus Coleman has suffered a ‘minor soft tissue injury’. The defender was forced off during Everton’s 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion on Monday night.

“He has been closely monitored by Blues medical staff since then and has already begun his recovery.”

While the vague update doesn’t give any indication of how long Coleman is set to be sidelined, he will be desperate to recover in time to play in next Tuesday’s Merseyside derby at Anfield.

I’m conflicted on this one as a liverpool fan on one hand, but someone increasingly reliant on Coleman for fantasy football points!

Don’t worry, Coleman will be back in time to stitch the winner for the Toffees in the Derby, right down the throats of the Kop End. COYB
