SHAMROCK ROVERS HAVE announced that former player Tommy Stewart is back at the club.
The 25-year-old ex-Northern Irish striker scored eight goals in 32 appearances during the Hoops’ title-winning season in 2010 before making the switch to Patrick Thistle.
However, Stewart, who previously played under Stephen Kenny at Derry City, has signed a contract until the end of next season and straight into the squad ahead of Friday’s fixture with UCD.
During his first stint in Tallaght, he struck up a good understanding with Gary Twigg and Rovers will be hoping the pair can rediscover that partnership and they look to close the seven-point lead Sligo Rovers have over them at the top of the table.
