A seventh defender is always going to be more effective at this time of year with the ground being heavier and the ball moving slower in general, along with the fact that there is going to be a lot more rucks. When it comes to the summer it is a lot easier to play around a sweeper and negate there influence. Cant’ see it being much of a different story for Wexford when it comes to championship again this year. Which is a pity with the quality of players they have at there disposal.

It may not be pretty viewing for the spectator seeing it blocked up in the middle third but it has been working for them. Not sure how long it lasts in a county without them getting fed up of the system Davy employs as it had been with us at clare although.
