Watch: Robbie Keane scores his first goal for LA Galaxy

Robbie Keane made a debut to remember for LA Galaxy, latching on to a sublime David Beckham pass to score in a 2-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes.

ROBBIE KEANE SCORED on his debut for LA Galaxy on Saturday, with his new side running out 2-0 winners over San Jose Earthquakes at the Home Depot Centre.

The Ireland captain only completed his move to the United States from Tottenham last Monday but was in fine form from the start of the match, making two incisive runs inside 15 minutes before being ruled offside.

He nearly scored from inside the penalty area, flashing a left-footed strike wide of the San Jose goal, but it wasn’t long before he had his first goal in the MLS.

David Beckham floated a ball over the top of the San Jose defence which Keane allowed to bounce, before advancing on ‘keeper Jon Busch and slotting in.

Keane came off to a standing ovation in the 64th and it was his replacement, Mike Magee, who completed the scoring in injury-time.

“It couldn’t have gone, obviously, better for me,” Keane said after the match. “It’s great to score a goal, but the most important thing is the three points.

“When you come to a new team, it’s always good to get the first goal. When you go a few games without a goal, it starts to play on your mind.”

Brilliant robbie, cool as you like showing the gulf in class between you and that keeper. Hope you don’t lose your edge over there, you’re still our top hitman in green!

Everything about that video was embarrassing after Beckhams pass. The attempted clearances, Keanes slowness, the joke of a keeper, the cameramen.

Its like 2 league to sides in a warm up match, no wonder the yanks don’t like "soccerball"

He and his team mate were 1-2 meters off side at the time the ball came to him. He was onside when the ball was kicked. Agree that Keane has lost his edge, and that cameraman, needs to be shot……..

Nice job, Robbie. The first of many, no doubt… Funny how people are ridiculing the ‘Home Depot’ Centre but presumably they find ‘the Emirates Stadium’ and ‘the Aviva Stadium’ perfectly acceptable?? Odd…

I’ve never liked Robbie that much, he’s not half as good as he thinks he is. Still, I hope he does well out there, he’s had a tough time over the past few seasons!
