Torres set for return to Atletico Madrid on loan

An 18-month loan deal has been agreed.

FERNANDO TORRES IS set to rejoin Atletico Madrid on an 18-month loan from Milan, the Spanish champions have confirmed.

The Spain international signed for Milan on a permanent deal on Saturday amid reports he would then be used in a swap deal with Atleti attacker Alessio Cerci, although no announcement has yet been made regarding the Italian’s future.

Torres will arrive at Atleti on 5 January until the end of the 2015-16 Liga campaign, subject to a medical.

Why would Milan sign him permanently just to loan him straight out again?

Milan signed him on a free and i’d imagine Atletico will be paying his full wages. If he does well, Milan may be able to get a transfer fee and if not, no loss.

I think Cerci is going to Milan from Athletico Madrid as well.

Still a strange one. Also why would Torres sign for Milan on a free and not go to athletico on a free?

I could be wrong but I think Milan are just looking for an edge on the deal and not to look silly if he bangs them in back in Spain. Grand, yeh you can have him now but if he does well we are getting paid too.

They are just using him to sign Cerci from atletico, or hoping too anyway, atletico are not too keen on that and the player would prefer to go to inter, so Milan could end up looking very silly if they don’t get him

Hopefully the return will spark somewhat of the old Torres, after he left Liverpool it’s just went completely down hill for him.

May have won more cups, but he was terrible at Chelsea. When he was at Liverpool, he was banging in goals non stop. He was a class act to watch.

Regardless, nobody will remember Torres at Chelsea, despite the trophies. At Liverpool he will be remember as possibly the finest striker in the world during his stay. Note the word ‘possibly’

Milan couldn’t swap him for Cerci while he was still a Chelsea player so they took ownership of him to be able to do an official swap, they couldn’t swap a player that they didn’t own! Chelsea just wanted rid of him and did Milan a favour.

This makes absolutely no sense. If he was going free why didn’t Atleti sign him up??..or are they so broke they couldn’t afford sign on/ Agent fees??..anything to do with fifa fair play rules, because it was obviously organised??
