ASTON VILLA MIDFIELDER Stephen Ireland is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering what appears to be a broken arm.

The Cork native, who last played for Ireland in 2007, was putting in an impressive display during Villa’s 4-1 defeat at the hands of Southampton on Saturday when he was forced off with an injury.

And while the club have yet to confirm that is in in fact a break, his partner Jessica Lawlor yesterday tweeted a picture of the 26-year-old with his right arm in a cast. She also revealed:

To all the ppl who have been asking abt Stephens injury unfortunately it appears to be a break and is in a cast at the moment.”

Great news! Sheedy’s bowel cancer surgery a success

    Can you blame him?
Are you a Man U fan who would refuse to condemn Roy Keane for the same thing?
