Barcelona hope to secure Xavi future

“We will do everything we possibly can and I think he would also really like to finish his career here,” said Nou Camp chief Rosell.

BARCELONA PRESIDENT Sandro Rosell has insisted that the Catalan giants will do “everything possible” to make sure their Spanish international midfielder Xavi Hernandez finishes his career with the club.

“We will do everything we possibly can and I think he would also really like to finish his career here,” said Rosell, who was speaking from New York, where he is currently on a charity-related visit.

“He is a role model, a legend,” Rosell added of the 32-year-old Xavi, who has formed part of Spain’s World Cup and double European Championship-winning sides in recent years.

Xavi’s agent, Ivan Corretja, told television channel Esport 3 on Tuesday that his client had received an offer from the club to extend his current contract, which is set to expire in June 2014. However, he gave no details as to the length of the proposed new deal.
