In pictures: Athlone Town, introducing Roddy Collins

One of Irish football’s real characters is on his way to the Midlands.

THIS MORNING, IT was announced that one of the most colourful men in domestic football is back in a job.

Despite making it clear that he was interested in the Limerick job, Roddy Collins has taken charge of First Division side Athlone Town – the sixth League of Ireland club he will manage in 15 years.

Fans of The Town will be hoping he can emulate the success he had in the second tier with Monaghan United before their collapse and lead them to promotion in 2013.

Whatever happens, the Midlands is surely in for an eventful campaign…

On Tuesday he said Limerick City was his dream job. How does he get away with it?
