'I’d have them challenging for the Premier Division straight away' - Roddy in for the Limerick job

The ex-Monaghan United manager is keen to take the reigns of the First Division champions.

RODDY COLLINS BELIEVES he would turn newly-promoted Limerick into title contenders in no time if he was named their new manager.

The Blues won the Airtricity League First Division under Pat Scully last month but sacked the former Shamrock Rovers boss on Thursday meaning they are on the look-out for his replacement.

The club has since released an advertisment for the job, which lists a series of requirements that the new man must have, and announced that they will be accepting CVs until next Wednesday, November 28.

Collins is out of a job since Monaghan United folded midway through last season and revealed in the Limerick Leader this morning that he has put his name in the hat.

“My CV has gone in already, I’m not going to wait around,” Collins said. “It’s a match made in heaven as far as I’m concerned. I’m not a fool and I can see something that can be very successful.

With the resources Limerick have, anyone would be interested in taking them over and I’d have them challenging to win the Premier Division straight away.

“I think they could be in contention with three or four games to go next season and would be wanting to push on from there.”
