THE LIMERICK COUNTY BOARD have once again looked to Cork to solve their managerial woes, earmarking All-Ireland winning boss John Allen as the ideal man to succeed Donal O’Grady.
Allen’s appointment is expected to be finalised early next week, making him the third successive Rebel to take charge of the Treatymen following in the footsteps of O’Grady and Justin McCarthy.
The St. Finbarr’s man was singled out from an impressive panel of candidates, believed to include former inter-county star Ciarán Carey and senior backroom figures TJ Ryan and Pat Heffernan.
Allen’s only spell in senior inter-county management came between 2004 and 2006 when he also succeeded O’Grady at the helm in Cork before leading the Rebels to All-Ireland glory in 2005.
A few contradictions there mick, you don’t care what ppl think but you must never forget you’re representing a bigger entity than yourself? Just saying!
Good man .
Never miss a chance to rain on someone’s parade even if it means missing the point entirely.
Pretty sure he means he’s not overly bothered about what people think outside the county, while highlighting the responsibility he and the rest of the team has to represent Donegal both on and off the field.
Fairly standard statement before any big game…still a bit sore Diarmaid?
I won’t lie, I hope Mayo wallop ye off the field, not because of bitterness or sour grapes (the better team won on the day and I have no complaints) but simply because of the arrogance that has perpetuated from everyone associated with your county since even before the Cork game. Donegal men also publicly insulted my county and their fans for no apparent reason other than mind games calling us arrogant etc so learn to take a bit of it back. Ye are not Gods, your system will get found out, I just hope it’s this Sunday! Cmon Mayo!
Well if your not sore about losing, your making a hell of an attempt to cover that up.
Not from Donegal, but would love to see them lift Sam, more enjoyable team to watch this year by a mile.
In Michaels own words I am not interested in what you think of me Robert. I have told you who I want to win and why, if you think that makes me a sore loser, fair enough, but I’ve told you pretty damn honestly why I want Mayo to win!
Butthurt about the semis.
I remember a few years ago Diarmuid, a number of Cork colleagues being smug with arrogance prior to a Donegal Cork game. Their confidence was logical and well founded back then but their arrogance was off putting. So arrogance is not something that is absent from all Cork people and equally not all Donegal people are over confident for this game.Personally I would like to see your comments on GAA articles end when Cork’s campaign ends but we’re all entitled to our opinion!!
