Holy bicycle kicks! Zlatan gets his very own comic strip

Is David Beckham too old to get the job of Ibra’s Boy Wonder?

SWEDISH FOOTBALL STAR Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been immortalised in comic book ink.

The Paris Saint Germain striker with a penchant for spectacular goals and ponytails will appear in a 28 March comic strip in French newspaper Le Parisien.

The 64-page comic book is titled “Paris is well worth a Sheik” – a nod to the club’s Qatari owners – and readers will be able to follow the adventures of Zlatan, teammate David Beckham and Brazilian manager Leonardo.

The comic strip artist behind the soon to be published comic is Philippe Bercovici, who has certainly made ‘Ibra’ stand out from his PSG teammates.

“It’s not a big news,” he explained. “Zlatan’s face is rather special with a pointed chin and a big head.

“I made a caricature of a player who is already a caricature.”

The comic is the first of three planned comics based on the club and Ibrahimovic – next up is ‘And so spoke Zlatan’ and ‘Under the skin of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’.

We hope PSG, Ibra and Becks-boys take on Roy Race and Melchester Rovers in an upcoming edition – Johnny ‘The Hard Man’ Dexter never stood for showboating.
