Zlatan: 'I don't need a trophy to tell myself I'm the best'

Yeah you heard him, Cristiano Ronaldo.

GOD BLESS YOU, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Last night, the Swedish striker scored his 39th Champions League to help PSG see off Olympiakos and book a place in the Champions League knockout stages.

Afterwards (as you can see in the video below) he was asked about the possibility of winning the Ballon d’Or.

His response – undoubtedly pointed at Cristiano Ronaldo – somehow made him seem cool, bitchy and awesome all at the same time.

“It’s not something that I think about. It seems very important for other players, but for me it’s not important. I know what I feel about myself and I know what I think about myself. That is most important.

“I don’t need a trophy to tell myself that I’m the best.”

You go, Ibra!

Is this the worst open-goal miss you’ve ever seen?

Ireland fall to 67th in the FIFA rankings

If the Ballon D’or was given out for one liners and put downs, Zlatan would win year after year…….as long as Cristiano and Messi are in town he hasn’t got a hope

Thats right Zlatan, generally things like appearances at the World Cup and winning trophies have nothing at all to do with being the best.

Wow…. Talk about a conman, this bloke has been a mercenary his whole career, goes to Paris finally shows some consistency & now he goes around calling himself the best in the world!!
Hilarious, the swede & his beak are the biggest scam artists football has seen since that David Beckham circus.

Yeah sure he’s only won the league title with nearly every club he’s played for and scores ridiculously good goals regularly, the sort of player that makes young lads go out and play football, what are you on about in all fairness. Maybe not as good as Ronaldo but he’s up there with the best in the world

Ronaldo and Messi are probably in the top 5 players ever, with the latter possibly the greatest of all time. Zlatan would be doing well to be considered in the greatest 50 .. to pick a number from my arse … still indicative of a great player and one of the worlds best right now but not in the pantheon, as Eamon Dunphy says

“Finally shows some consistency” when going to France. That is just ridiculous. He lead a.c. Milan and Inter to league titles. It’s not a coincidence that wherever he goes the team then wins the league title (instantly). He’s a class act simple as that.
