Another idiotic fan shoved a goalkeeper to the ground in League Two tonight

This time it was Wycombe goalkeeper Jordan Archer who was targeted.

WYCOMBE GOALKEEPER JORDAN Archer became the second goalkeeper this season to be attacked by a fan when he was assaulted in the closing stages of his side’s 1-0 victory against Gillingham in a League Two clash at the Priestfield Stadium.

Archer, on loan at Wycombe from Tottenham, had placed the ball down prior to taking a goal kick when the Gillingham supporter entered the field and leapt towards the 19-year-old keeper, knocking him to the ground.

The fan was quickly apprehended by a steward and the clearly stunned Archer was unhurt and able to continue playing as Wycombe secured a surprise win over Martin Allen’s promotion chasers.

“Some people give the rest of the Gillingham fans a bad name,” Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth told Sky Sports 1.

“I don’t want to comment too much, but everyone is okay in there.”

The first incident of such a nature came back in October when Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland was attacked by Aaron Cawley during the 1-1 draw with bitter Yorkshire rivals Leeds.

Cawley, 21, was later jailed for 16 weeks.
