MORE THAN 1,000 people, including a host of former Rugby World Cup winners, set a new World Record for the largest scrum on Saturday.

1,008 people lined out for the event at Twickenham which marked the official on-sale date for tickets for the 2015 World Cup.

All Blacks scrum-half Piri Weepu took part alongside England’s Lawrence Dallaglio and Will Greenwood and Wales coach Warren Gatland.

The previous record of 946 was set by students from Willow Park and Blackrock College in Dublin in October 2013.
