Ben Watson belter sends Wigan screaming into FA Cup quarter finals

The cup holders remain in contention for another trip to Wembley Stadium after dumping Cardiff out.

FA CUP HOLDERS Wigan Athletic have marched into the quarter finals of this year’s competition after dumping out Premier League side Cardiff City.

Wigan went 1-0 up after 18 minutes when Chris McCann scored a smart half volley from a Jordi Gomez corner. Frazier Campbell levelled matters for the home side, nine minutes later, but the Championship side continued to press.

They were rewarded, on 40 minutes, when midfielder Ben Watson scored this thumping goal after Marc-Antonie Fortune tapped a free-kick in his direction.
