NOWLAN PARK, KILKENNY was the venue as Wexford and Waterford went head-to-head in this All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Round 2 Qualifier.
With Waterford out of action since June 28 and Wexford having had back-to-back 90 minute games over the last fortnight, rust and tiredness could both play a factor this evening.

But who’ll win tonight? Give us your predictions in the comments below.
18.57 – Late change for Wexford as (23) Harry Kehoe replaces Diarmuid O’Keeffe in the half-forward line.
19.00 – The anthem is playing and we’re nearly set for throw-in.
And the game is under way with Wexford playing into the wind in the first half.
19.02 – Waterford 0-1 Wexford 0-0 – 1min: First blood to Waterford as Shane Walsh strikes one from play.
19.04 – Wexford 0-2 Waterford 0-1 - 3mins: Podge Doran and Paul Morris score two quick fire points and Wexford are certainly more accurate than they were last weekend against Clare.
19.05 – Waterford 0-2 Wexford 0-2 – 5mins: Pauric Mahony won’t score an easier free than that and the sides are level after five minutes.
19.08 – Wexford 0-3 Waterford 0-2 – 7mins: Podge Doran is two from two to restore Wexford’s lead. Waterford can’t match the 18-year old’s accuracy and they strike their second wide of the game.
19.10 – Wexford 0-3 Waterford 0-3 – 10mins: Jake Dillion levels things up for the third time.
19.11 – Wexford 0-4 Waterford 0-3 – 11mins: Lovely score from Conor McDonald who seems to have the freedom of Nowlan Park and takes full advantage to restore Wexford’s lead.
19.12 – Wexford 1-4 Waterford 0-3 – 12mins: Stephen O’Keeffe has no chance as Paul Morris buries the first goal of the game and suddenly Liam Dunne’s men lead by four.
Waterford have a chance to come back into this game immediately.
19.14 – MISSED!
Austin Gleeson’s shot is stopped by Moore on the Wexford line and Waterford have to settle for a 65. Probably a fair result as it looked a harsh penalty.
Wexford 1-4 Waterford 0-4 – 13mins: Pauric Mahony points the place ball.
19.15 – Wexford 1-4 Waterford 0-5 – 14mins: Mahony gets his third free of the game and the gap is back to two points. Waterford have responded well to that goal.
19.17 – Wexford 1-5 Waterford 0-5 – 17mins: Jack Guiney has restored Wexford’s three point lead with his first score of the game.
19.21 – Wexford 1-5 Waterford 0-6 – 20mins: Mahony’s free-taking keeps Waterford in touch. That’s four for the Ballygunner man.
19.22 – Wexford 1-6 Waterford 0-7 – 23mins: Liam Og McGovern – who has been doing most of his work off the ball – makes it a three point game yet again. Brick Walsh is fouled though and Mahony has another free to his name.
19.23 – Substitution: Diarmuid O’Keeffe – named to start – comes on as Harry Keohe (the man who replaced him) goes off.
19.24 – Wexford 1-6 Waterford 0-7 – 24mins: Mahony hits Waterford’s fourth wide. Tellingly, Wexford have none.
19.25 – Wexford 1-6 Waterford 0-9 – 24mins: Colin Dunford skips past Matthew O’Hanlon and gets his first score of the game before Austin Gleeson levels things up.
19.26 – Waterford 0-10 Wexford 1-6 – 26mins: Another Waterford free, another Mahony score and Waterford lead.
19.28 – Waterford 0-11 Wexford 1-7 – 27mins: Jake Dillion made it five points in a row for the Déise before O’Keeffe grabbed a badly needed point for Wexford. Will that steady the ship?
19.29 – Waterford 0-12 Wexford 1-7 – 28mins: Nobody picking up Austin Gleeson as the Wexford half-back line goes missing and Waterford’s lead is two again. The pressure starts to tell on Wexford as they hit their first wide of the game.
19.32 – Waterford 0-12 Wexford 1-8 – 31mins: Paul Morris with a close range free reduces the deficit to one.
19.33 – Waterford 0-12 Wexford 1-9 – 33mins: McGovern uses his pace to draw the sides level.
19.35 – Waterford 0-12 Wexford 1-9 – 35mins: Three wides in two minutes costs Wexford as they start to dominate possession again.
19.36 – GOAL FOR WEXFORD! Wexford 2-9 Waterford 0-12 – 35+1mins: Conor McDonald with another unstoppable effort for Wexford and they lead by three.
Wexford go into the break in front but this is anyone’s game at the moment.
19.44 – Here’s who put the points on the board and the ball in the net in the first half -
Scorers for Wexford: Conor McDonald 1-2, Paul Morris 1-1 (0-1f), Liam Og McGovern 0-2, Podge Doran, Jack Guiney and Diarmuid O’Keeffe 0-1 each.
Scorers for Waterford: Pauric Mahony 0-6 (0-5f), Austin Gleeson and Jake Dillion 0-2 each, Colin Dunford and Shane Walsh 0-1 each.
19.53 – Look who has shown up in Nowlan Park. And even he’s jumping on this beard bandwagon.
Controversially, he refuses to tell Sky Sports who he’s cheering for tonight!

The second-half is under way after Wexford took some extra time in the dressing room at the break.
19.57 – Wexford 2-9 Waterford 0-12 – 38mins: Still no score in the second half but Jake Dillon has a goal chance blocked by Wexford goalkeeper Mark Fanning.
19.58 – Wexford 2-10 Waterford 0-12 – 38mins: And just like that, Podge Doran makes a liar of me and scores the first point of the second half, his second of the game.
19.58 – Wexford 2-10 Waterford 0-12 – 40mins: Paul Morris should have had his second goal of the game but a wonderful save from Stephen O’Keeffe keeps his side in the game.
20.00 – GOAL FOR WEXFORD! Wexford 3-10 Waterford 0-12 – 41mins: Well that didn’t last long as David Redmond’s barnstorming run is capped with a brilliantly taken goal. The gap is now seven points as Waterford have failed to score in the second period.
20.03 – Double change for Waterford as they go goal hunting:
20.03 – Wexford 3-10 Waterford 0-13 – 44mins: Pauric Mahony strikes another free and Waterford have troubled the scoreboard operators for the first time in 15 minutes.
20.05 – GOAL FOR WATERFORD! Wexford 3-10 Waterford 1-13 – 46mins: Kevin Moran’s ball is brilliant and Colin Dunford scores his first ever senior championship goal. This one’s not done just yet.
20.06 – Wexford 3-10 Waterford 1-14 – 48mins: Gleeson points and there’s just two between them again.
20.09 – GOAL FOR WATERFORD!Waterford 2-14 Wexford 3-11 – 49mins: Dunford again! Paul Morris points and we’re level.
End to end stuff in Nowlan Park.
20.10 – Wexford 3-12 Waterford 2-14 – 51mins: Paul Morris brings his personal tally to 1-2 with his second free of the game and Wexford lead again.
20.11 – Wexford 3-12 Waterford 2-14 – 53mins: A bad miss from a close range free from Pauric Mahony. Will the Déise regret that?
20.13 – Wexford 3-13 Waterford 2-14 – 54mins: Paul Morris points another free and Wexford are ahead by two again.
20.15 – Wexford 3-14 Waterford 2-15 – 54mins: Morris again as he finds acres of space and there’s a goal between the teams with 15 minutes left.
Stephen Molumphy keeps Waterford in touch.
20.17 – Wexford 3-14 Waterford 2-15 – 58mins: Two missed frees from Jack Guiney makes it 11 wides for Wexford.
20.20 – Wexford 3-14 Waterford 2-15 – 61mins: Another bad miss from a scoreable free for Wexford. Down the other end Molumphy also sends it wide from play.
20.24 – Wexford 3-14 Waterford 2-15 – 65mins: The quality has gone out of the game and it’s been over ten minutes since the last score.
20.24 – Wexford 3-15 Waterford 2-15 – 66mins: Ian Byrne makes it a one goal game with four minutes to go.
20.29 – Wexford 3-15 Waterford 2-15 – 70+1mins: We’re in injury time and there’s still a goal between them.
Wexford 3-15 Waterford 2-15
No extra-time needed for Liam Dunne’s men tonight as they hold out for the three point win. They’ll now face Limerick in the All-Ireland SHC quarter-finals.
20.44 – And that’s it from me. Thanks as always for joining us. Wexford don’t make it easy on themselves but at least they didn’t need extra-time this week.
