WEXFORD HURLING suffered a titanic shock this evening when six-in-a-row chasing Oulart-The-Ballagh were dumped out in the quarter-finals by Glynn-Barntown.
The plucky underdogs goaled through Michael Doyle from a 65 with the very last puck of the game to secure their first ever win over Oulart at senior level.
Glynn led by 0-9 to 0-7 at half-time and finished the game with 14 men after John Leacy was dismissed for two yellows. Oulart, who missed a penalty ten minutes into the second half, looked to be on the way to a narrow victory until Doyle’s late heroics.
Elsewhere, Ferns booked their spot in the last four with a high scoring win over Rathnure, while Shelmaliers joined them with a two point victory over Rapparees.
In the first game of the day, St. Anne’s had six points to spare over Buffers Alley. Anne’s led by 1-8 to 0-8 at the break and doubled that lead by the end of the game.
