West Brom block fans from re-selling tickets to Fergie's final United game

West Brom’s clash with Manchester United on 19 May is already a sell-out.

WEST BROMWICH ALBION have blocked fans from re-selling tickets to the club’s Premier League match against Manchester United, Alex Ferguson’s final game before retirement.

The clash at the Hawthorns on the last day of the season is already a sell-out and the Baggies are now taking steps to ensure that supporters do not pass on their tickets to United fans anxious to be a part of history.

West Brom partner with ticket exchange website Viagogo which allows season ticket holders and other fans to sell their seat for games they cannot attend.

But the Midlands club confirmed today that they have put a block on sales ahead of the game on 19 May.

A club spokesman said: “We noticed on Wednesday that, within minutes of Manchester United announcing Sir Alex’s retirement, there was a huge spike in ticket orders being placed on viagogo.

“With Manchester United’s help, we have identified that the vast majority of these orders were lodged by United season ticket holders/members.

“Therefore, we will not be honouring any ticket orders lodged after 8am on Wednesday, May 8.

“This is in keeping with all terms and conditions which stipulate that the club reserves the right not to honour orders from buyers that are suspected to be opposition fans.

“The safety of fans is paramount, which is why we so vehemently uphold the rules regarding the segregation of supporters.”

Is this the playlist for Alex Ferguson’s final game at Old Trafford?
