NORWICH CITY HAVE rejected a transfer request from Wes Hoolahan.
The Irish international today asked to be sold by the Premier League club but the Canaries insist Hoolahan will not be leaving Carrow Road.
The former Shels man has been the subject of interest from former Norwich boss Paul Lambert, who is now in charge at Aston Villa.
“City can confirm that Irish international midfielder Wes Hoolahan has today submitted a transfer request which has been rejected,” a statement reads. “The Board of Norwich City has stated clearly no senior players will be sold against the club’s wishes and Hoolahan, 31, is contracted to the club until June 2015. The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Let’s get real.. Everytime someone speaks the truth about irish players there is always a big thumbs down moment. Get real. What has he ever done. Not to say he’s been lighting the premiership up has he! The truth hurts
They probably will in the end. He wants to jump now but in reality he should be grateful where he is,earning good doe and helping his team fight relegation. They have a right to turn him down if he is under contract
What I mean is he lucky to be a club like norwich. He’s not premiership standard imo. Or is he anywhere near international. Did you see him play for Ireland. I think he’s a bad player and thats it. Sorry if people don’t agree. But thats football
Actually Wes played a massive part in Norwich’s revival up the English leagues, check it out, player of the season, players player of the season etc so why should Wes be grateful, other way round if you ask me..
Lads how good or bad he is doesnt matter. Lambert wants to buy him to play him. Hughton doesnt at the minute. As an Irish soccer fan we should all want as many of our player playing regularly at the highest possible level and for WH at the moment, Villa is the best option for him and for our national side.

Free the Norwich one!
If I remember last year when he was playing regularly everyone was wandering why trap wouldn’t play him in the Irish team. move would have helped him as he would go back to his best hopefully
Oh Ronan… were to start…
Welcome to AVFC Wez. Watch this space!
Transfer should happen what’s point in Norwich keeping an unhappy player kop on Norwich
Let’s get real.. He’s a quality midfield attacking player, v creative & great control, while he is obviously no world beater, we can’t afford to ignore or downgrade such talent with our weak strength in depth in Ireland. Re his move its kind of sad coz Wes played a large part in Norwich’s reversal in fortunes in the football league, but that’s pro sport for ya
He’s an ok player .. Nothing special.
Lordy it’s all kids on here, no 1, he is a midfielder, no 2 he is the best Irish midfielder at the minute no 3 anyone who knows that a football is round, knows this. Now do yer homework, and go to bed.
James McCarthy
Andy reid
If he can’t get a game for Norwich he’s doing something wrong somewhere.
And the best Irish midfielder is McCarthy by a mile
James mc Carthy I’m afraid is seriously overrated, Andy Reid for sure , got a cracker for Forest the other night , clock is against him.
Jeez a right happy bunch on here tonight.
Everytime someone speaks the truth about irish players there is always a big thumbs down moment. Get real. What has he ever done. Not to say he’s been lighting the premiership up has he! The truth hurts
Ronan you’re perfectly entitled to your opinion, but why won’t Norwich let him leave if he’s no good?
They probably will in the end. He wants to jump now but in reality he should be grateful where he is,earning good doe and helping his team fight relegation. They have a right to turn him down if he is under contract
What I mean is he lucky to be a club like norwich. He’s not premiership standard imo. Or is he anywhere near international. Did you see him play for Ireland. I think he’s a bad player and thats it. Sorry if people don’t agree. But thats football
Still wants to play, still not a striker.
Don’t comment if you don’t know what you’re talking about, Ronan.
Thanks, everybody..
He was playing as a forward for norwich last season and I can say what I want. Its a free world!
Ahh Wes is class he should be playing a lot more and with the boys in green
He has a cheek. You would think he was a prolific striker or something. Knuckle down. He’s lucky he is in that team never mind another!
He’s not in the team ya mug that’s why he wants to leave
He wants to play every now and then I’m sure. I’d want to leave if I was him.
Yes. Because he is useless!
U serious? He is an absolute baller! Really dont understand why hes not playing for them f**kin brilliant player
The way people are going on he must be the perfect fill in for Wayne Rooney at United.
Mind you! lol
He is an average player in the squad of a poor side.
Trap was right to exclude him.
Might I also lament how the fickle Irish support pleaded with Trap to play Mc Clean as if he was the new Lionel Messi a few years back.
Wes has a good heart for the game but at 31 is at best a Championship player.
Actually Wes played a massive part in Norwich’s revival up the English leagues, check it out, player of the season, players player of the season etc so why should Wes be grateful, other way round if you ask me..
So why keep him tom if thats all he is. A championship player in the premier league. If he wants out let him go
Great player Weso.Pity he’s probably only got a few seasons left in him.Should have been in the Ireland squad a long LONG time ago -.-
Lads how good or bad he is doesnt matter. Lambert wants to buy him to play him. Hughton doesnt at the minute. As an Irish soccer fan we should all want as many of our player playing regularly at the highest possible level and for WH at the moment, Villa is the best option for him and for our national side.
Rubbish player who plays for a Rubbish team
Looking to play first and foremost I’d imagine, can’t think his bargaining power in terms of wages etc is massive, he is 31
OVER RATED!!! From one small club to another..
