We have kickoff: Notre Dame-Navy start confirmed

There’ll be some red eyes for American viewers as the Emerald Isle Classic is set for 2pm (local time).

CBS SPORTS WILL begin it’s 2012 college football schedule with some red-eye viewing for American fans.

The game between Notre Dame and Navy, one of college football’s fiercest rivalries, is already a sellout and will be called by CBS’s marquee team of Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson.

The 2pm local time kick off will, however, require some viewers – those living in Hawaii – to get up at 4am to catch the action, with those on the East coast having to leave their beds at 9am.

It is expected that more than 30,000 American fans will travel to the game in the Aviva, three times the number that watched the inaugural Emerald Isle Classic in 1996 when Notre Dame beat their long time rivals 54-27 in Croke Park.
