Englishman Wayne Barnes to referee Munster's clash with Toulon

The ERC has announced the full list of refereeing appointments for the European semi-final weekend.

ENGLISH REFEREE WAYNE Barnes has been appointed as the referee for Munster’s Heineken Cup semi-final against Toulon in the Stade Vélodrome, Marseille on the 27th of April.

Barnes will be assisted by Luke Pearce and Dublin-born JP Doyle, both of whom represent the RFU. Completing the team of match officials is Graham Hughes on TMO duties.

Barnes’ last game in the Heineken Cup was the quarter-final between Toulon and Leinster, when Florian Fresia was yellow-carded in the second half.

The other semi-final clash, between Saracens and Clermont at Twickenham on the 26th of April, will see Wales’ Nigel Owens take charge. Alain Rolland of the IRFU and Leighton Hodges of the WRU will run the touchlines, with Gareth Simmonds of Wales taking TMO responsibility.

Meanwhile, Irishman George Clancy has been handed an Amlin Challenge Cup semi-final on the 25th, when Northampton Saints meet Harlequins at Franklin’s Gardens. John Lacey and Marius Mitrea will act as his assistants.

Romain Poite of the FFR will be the man in the middle for Wasps’ tie against Bath in the other semi-final on the 27th. Jérôme Garcès and Pascal Gaüzère have need appointed as the assistant referees for that clash at Adams Park.
