ROY CARROLL MADE the best possible impression on his Olympiakos debut by saving a penalty — with his very first touch for the club.

The former Manchester United stopper, who only signed for the Greek club last month, was thrust into action when goalkeeper Balázs Megyeri was sent off in the 76th minute of this morning’s Europa League last 32 tie against Rubin Kazan.

Carroll’s first duty was to face the penalty for which Megyeri had been dismissed, and the Fermanagh native made himself an instant hero by getting down smartly to save Bebras Natcho’s tame effort.

Olympiakos hung on for a 1-0 away win, the game’s only goal coming through a deflected effort by  David Fuster in the 71st minute.
