ARSENAL FANS MAY be about to receive a belated Christmas present, with news that manager Arsene Wenger could be set to re-sign Thierry Henry on a short-term deal in January.
The 34-year-old is considered an Arsenal legend, having scored 226 goals in 370 appearances for the club between 1999 and 2007, and a statue of the player was revealed outside the Emirates Stadium earlier this month.
And Wenger confirmed to reporters that he was interested acquiring the player on a two-month loan deal from New York Red Bulls, whose season doesn’t begin again until March. The Frenchman said:
“I have to think about [making an offer for Henry]. January 1 is the vital date for us. We have seven days to make decisions and I will make a decision in the next seven days on players.”
The signing of Henry would be a much-needed boost for Arsenal’s strikeforce, as they will be without Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh, who will be participating in the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Anyhow, in case you need reminding, here are 226 reasons why re-signing the Frenchman could prove a wise move on Wenger’s part:
