JONATHAN WALTERS AND Keiren Westwood will miss Ireland’s upcoming games with Germany and Kazakhstan, the FAI confirmed today.
Walters has been ruled out following a medical examination, while Westwood has also pulled out to receive medical treatment during the international break.
Paul Green and Stephen Henderson have been called up in their place.

Quinn should have come in ahead of Green dosnt make much sense replacing a striker/Winger with a pretty poor holding player considering the objective in these games is hardly to sit back

We have got to cut out this defeatist attitude as a nation of going into games against teams like Germany, Russia and Spain expecting to lose and celebrating draws against teams like Sweden (look how that turned out).
Northern Ireland and Scotland often scalp bigger teams. Portugal have dropped points against some of the worst ranked teams in Europe. Under Staunton, we drew and lost against Germany; the latter due to a set piece.
Yes, stranger things have happened than us getting a draw or beating Germany. The way Trapattoni has set us out to play and his overall decision making is a large part of the reason as to our lack of competitiveness in Poland and the embarrassing performances and dropped points in this campaign.

He was named in the preliminary squad; he was cut from the final 23; he was named on standby; he’s been called up as a replacement for Jon Walters.
