AS CLUB ACTION breaks for this weekend’s international fixtures, Spanish football breathes a sigh of relief.

It’s been a frantic start to the La Liga season. We’ve already had two controversial El Clasicos, including the second leg of the Super Cup in which Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho got involved in an ugly incident with one of Barcelona’s back-room staff.

Barca centre-half Gerard Pique subsequently accused the Portuguese of ‘destroying Spanish football’.
