Confident Kompany predicts City quadruple

But maybe not this year.

CAPTAIN VINCENT KOMPANY has backed Manchester City to win four major trophies in a campaign soon, even if they cannot do it this season.

City put one foot in the English League Cup final last week when they thrashed West Ham 6-0 in the first leg of their semi-final; while they qualified for the FA Cup fourth round with a 5-0 win over Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, sit second in the Premier League and remain in contention in the UEFA Champions League.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini said City can become the first English club to win those four competitions this season and, while Kompany would not set a timeline, the Belgian defender remains confident they can do it one day.

“We can’t promise it will happen now, but eventually it will have to happen,” Kompany said on Thursday.

“We are the players at the moment who have been chosen to do it. If it’s not us then it will be other players.

“This club definitely has a target to win every competition possible.”

City’s attacking prowess has been critical to their success so far during the 2013-14 season with Pellegrini’s side scoring their 99th goal in all competitions in the win over Blackburn.

Kompany has hailed Pellegrini’s attacking focus in his first season at City with the Chilean manager having replaced Roberto Mancini at the Etihad.

“He’s very offensive-minded and I think that’s shown in our results and the way we play,” Kompany said.

“I think we have been one of the best teams to watch in the Premier League so far.”

Confidence bordering on arrogance from Mr Kompany there, don’t think he realises how difficult it will be for any club to win 4 major trophies in a season

Barcelona will take them apart, there still not top of the league and they almost lost to Blackburn away from home in the cup, what happens when they meet a team that can actually defend

Have you watched Barcelona Paul? Citys attacking 3 will terrorise them and I actually think that City, if they retain their current form will beat Barca over 2 legs. With Neymar out they are light up front.

I don’t think it’s possible to win the champions league with that back four, I personally think it’s Real Madrids year. United might upset the odds in the capital cup also. Good luck to them though.

They were for most parts second best against a decent, but not exceptional Liverpool side at the Etihad who fronted up, played them at their own game with good attacking football. If Barca can turn on the style against them I think they will buckle at home and even their form away from the Etihad this season has hardly set the world alight.

    Time will tell though.

While based on their form over the last few weeks I woulnd’t bet against them. They have a very strong squad and are the current form team in the PL. But I think they are still a little inconsistent to win all 4.
I think unless United strengthen massively and get RVP and Rooney back then the league cup is theirs.
CL will be very tight, I think maybe a fight off between them Madrid and Bayern.
League is still tight, think eventually it will be Chelsea and City to fight this one.
FA Cup is a lottery, one off game and they are out.

There’s far to much competition in England now alone , when Man Utd won the treble in 99 Arsenal were the only real domestic competition at the time. Now City would have to get the better 5/6 top teams in all 3 competitions and then face the might of Europe in the CL aswell

I’m a United fan but you cannot call Vincent arrogant just confident with what is around him why shouldn’t he be, you build a squad to take on all fronts and they are doing it…..I hope they don’t but they are getting the momentum to do do it…my only downside is they have bought it!!! But FairPlay if they do it!
