La Liga is back and Barcelona kicked off their campaign with a bang, disposing of Real Sociedad 5-1 at the Nou Camp.

Barca, playing their first league match under new coach Tito Vilanova, opened the scoring after only three minutes when captain Carlos Puyol powered a header home.

Sociedad struck back on nine minutes when Chory Castro scorched a high drive over the diving Victor Valdes.

Lionel Messi then took over and rattled in two goals in four minutes, making it 3-1 to the home side after just 16 minutes.

The Argentine jinked past two defenders on curled in a high shot to put his side ahead before poking home a Tello cross minutes later.

Pedro made it 4-1 just before the break and there was a successful return for striker David Villa, who came off the bench and scored with six minutes to go.
