VIDEO: Sheridan bags a hat-trick for Killie

The Irish striker scored his second, third and fourth goals for his new club at Rugby Park yesterday.

LUIS SUAREZ WASN’T the only player taking the ball home last night as there was an Irish hat-trick across the water.

Cavan native Cillian Sheridan helped Kilmarnock continue their early challenge for the SPL with three goals away to Hearts.

The 23-year-old, who is back in Scotland after ending his two-year spell with CSKA Sofia in August, has been likened to former Killie striker Conor Sammon by manager Kenny Shiels after his fourth goal for the club.

Sammon earned a move to Wigan after impressing at Rugby Park and Shiels is hoping that Sheridan, who has three senior caps for Ireland, can make the same kind of impact.

“I’m not putting pressure on the boy, but there’s similar things happening here that happened with Conor,” Shiels told BBC Scotland.

It’s up to me to make sure that the development programme for each individual player helps each player to fulfil his maximum potential.

“The mental development, the physical development; all of that is part of the programme that he’s on at the moment and I’m seeing it evolve straight in front of me.”

Sheridan tweeted the picture below today.
