VIDEO: Harry Redknapp launches passionate defence of then-18-year-old Frank Lampard

Join us for a trip down memory lane.

FRANK LAMPARD HAS had his critics throughout his career, as the video below demonstrates.

The incident in question shows an 18-year-old Lampard being criticised by a West Ham supporter at a Q and A session.

The fan laments then-West Ham manager Harry Redknapp’s decision to place his faith in the youngster and sell two of his more experienced midfielders, Matt Holland and Scott Canham.

Yet Redknapp delivers a forthright and impassioned response, saying rather presciently that Lampard will go “right to the very top” in football and insisting that “he’s got everything that’s needed to become a top-class midfield player”.

Watch the clip in its entirety below.
