It’s because we wear green, innit?

THE INDONESIAN “MYSTIC” who fancies himself as this year’s Paul The Octopus has tipped Ireland to go all the way and win Euro 2012.

Santos, who claims to have successfully predicted Greece’s shock win at Euro 2004, had a vision that green will be the colour of this year’s championships in Poland and Ukraine.

And although there are other teams with green in their flag and in their jersey — including Germany, one of the main pre-tournament fancies — he has read this sign to mean that Trap’s army will be victorious on 1 July in Kiev.

Sporting a rather funky tinfoil hat in his YouTube video, Santos explains that he had a similar vision for the 2004 Euros when blue was the colour and Greece beat Portugal in the final.

But before you book the entire month of July off work to celebrate, it’s worth noting that his track record isn’t quite spotless. In 2008, his vision was of the colour red but he somehow understood that to mean a Portuguese win rather than a Spanish one. Ah, logic.

Anyway, we’re on board. Thank you Santos for showing us the light.
