AN AWFUL LOT of water has passed under the bridge since Ireland recorded what many have described as their best ever result in rugby.
It was one of those days when everything clicked. The scrum, the choke tackle, Rob Kearney’s high tackle. Even Jonathan Sexton’s sorry excuse for a drop goal somehow managed to wobble its way over the bar.
If only Conor Murray’s try had stood, eh?
If only we hadn’t wound up looking bereft of ideas against Wales three weeks later.
Still, we’ll always have that one wild night in Auckland*.
Nevin Spence: Ulster v Zebre postponed following star’s death
Up and running: Kearney, D’Arcy back in contention for Leinster
(*or one wild morning in Dublin)
A meaningless win…. To go then and choke against Wales.
The win basically confirmed for old Kidders that there was no need to try anything different in the quarters, which came on to hurt us. Not that he’s changed anything since he took over, anyway. Only 7 more matches till we get a better coach!
