ROBIN VAN PERSIE says there is a lot more to come from his burgeoning strike partnership with Wayne Rooney at Manchester United.

The former Arsenal striker has not missed a beat in making the transition to Old Trafford, scoring six goals and creating three others since the start of the season.

He and Rooney have only started three matches together but there are signs of a growing understanding, with both players on the scoresheet in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Stoke City.

“We are definitely getting more of an understanding,” Van Persie said.

“We like to play together and work well together. It is only the second or third time we have played in this formation but offensively and defensively, we help each other out.

“We do look exciting going forward. We can score all sorts of goals from many different angles. That is a good sign and should be a real weapon for us as the season goes on.”
United currently lie second in the table on 18 points, just four adrift of leaders Chelsea.
