Ulster Rugby to host historic GAA game to raise MND awareness

The came will take place in Ravenhill on November 15.

ULSTER GAA AND Ulster Rugby have come together in honour of former Antrim football captain Anto Finnegan who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2012.

The pair have announced that Ravenhill – now known as Kingspan Stadium – will play host to a GAA game on November 15, aimed at raising awareness of the disease.

The match will create a slice of history as it will mark the first time that Gaelic games will be played at the venue in the 90 years since Ulster Rugby became the tenant.

The ‘#GameforAnto’ will see Jim Gavin’s Dublin take on an All-Star Ulster team co-managed by Joe Kernan and former Donegal boss Brian McEniff in support of Finnegan’s deterMND Trust.

Finnegan, a member of the Antrim team for ten years, only revealed he was suffering from MND in August 2013 and the 41-year old told Ulster Rugby’s website he was humbled by the upcoming game.

“It will be an historic occasion for many reasons and I am proud to be associated with it. It is testament to the respective sporting organisations, my friends and family, that this historic match will take place at the amazing venue that is home to Ulster Rugby.”

Tickets for the #GameForAnto, taking place on November 15, are available to purchase online now.
