Revolving door at 12 for Ulster as Olding suffers concussion and McCloskey injures elbow

Luke Marshall is back in training however.

ULSTER CENTRE LUKE Marshall appears to have returned to training in the nick of time after his recovery from a knee injury.

The province say the international is available for selection for this weekend’s Champions Cup trip to Llanelli. He will most likely be fast-tracked into the starting line-up, owing to the injuries sustained by fellow 12s Stuart Olding and McCloskey at Kingspan Stadium.

Olding suffered concussion and was replaced at half-time by McCloskey who appears to have damaged elbow ligaments in a second half collision.

With Olding looking ahead to return to play protocols and McCloskey awaiting specialist advice, it is still unclear how long Ulster will be without the duo.

Also following the return to play protocols will be Franco Van Der Merwe after a clash of heads with Nick Williams.

The number eight appeared to come through the heavyweight collision unscathed, but was soon forced off with what has now revealed to be a hamstring injury. The same issue caused prop Wiehahn Herbst to require a helping hand off the field and both will undergo MRI scans to determine the extent of the tissue injury this evening.

His face fits at Ulster anyway – Darren Cave is sticking around Ravenhill for a few more years
