Champions Clontarf host Young Munster as Ulster Bank League fixtures announced

Friday Night Lights are back and the IRFU has vowed to live-stream more matches.

THE IRFU HAS announced the fixtures for the 2014/15 Ulster Bank League season and has committed to live streaming a greater number of matches in the coming months.

The first game of the new season will see UCD host St Mary’s in one of the league’s Friday Night Lights fixtures. Champions Clontarf kick off their season the following day, Saturday, 13 September, by welcoming Young Munster to Castle Avenue.

Old Belvedere, who lost out on the title on last season’s league trophy on the final afternoon, will face off against Bateman Cup winners Cork Constitution. In the remaining fixtures, 2013 champions Lansdowne face Dolphin on the Aviva Stadium back pitch while newly promoted Terenure are up against Ballynahinch, who beat Buccaneers in a play-offs to retain their top flight status.

On the final day of the season, 11 April, Clontarf will travel to Ballymacan Park to tackle Ballynahinch while Old Belvedere and Terenure meet at Anglesea Road.

The stand-out game on the opening weekend of Division 1B, also played over 12-13 September, relegated Garryowen welcome Shannon to Dooradoyle. The two clubs promoted from Division 2A, Galwegians and Ballymena host Dublin University and Corinthians respectively.

The IRFU live streamed a number of fixtures last season and says it will extend its coverage for 2014/15, with games to be covered on the union website and its YouTube channel.
