Tyrone brawl investigation to conclude this week

Red Hand bosses are expected to take disciplinary action following violent scenes at the end of Dromore and Carrickmore’s county league final.

AN INVESTIGATION INTO the ugly scenes which marred the end of the Tyrone Football League final is expected to conclude later this week.

A spectator was hospitalised earlier this month after part of his ear was reportedly bitten off during a mass brawl in the closing minutes of Dromore’s victory over Carrickmore.

Carrickmore brothers Gabriel and Plunkett McCallan were both shown red cards as a fracas spread from the pitch, sparking further violence among supporters in the stands.

Representatives from both clubs were present at a second hearing into the matter by the Tyrone Competitions Control Committee (CCC) last night.

Afterwards, the Red Hand county board indicated that disciplinary action was likely to be concluded on Friday.

“Whilst significant progress has been made the CCC are reluctant to conclude the process until they have considered all the information presented to them,” a statement issued this afternoon said.

“It is anticipated that the matter will be concluded by Friday of this week.

“The details of any proposed sanctions will be issued directly to the secretary of the club so as not to prejudice any appeal hearing which may arise.”
