Pendred wins first ever TUF bout to advance to semi-final

The SBG fighter overcame Hector Urbina in episode two of the TV show, which aired in Ireland last night.

LAST WEEK’S SEASON 19 opener of The Ultimate Fighter saw Ireland’s Cathal Pendred and Chris Fields progress to the house with 14 other hopefuls.

And, with middleweight Pendred receiving a bye in episode one, he was first up representing Team Penn against Team Edgar’s Hector Urbina of Mexico.

The Dubliner prepares for one of the biggest moments in his career so far by training with and receiving advice from coaches Andre Pedernerias, Mark Coleman, Jason Parillo and, of course, BJ Penn.

Things become a little heated when the pair come face-to-face at the weigh-in and emotion seems to be getting the better of Urbina.

During the stand down and right throughout the fight, Pendred’s team-mates show their support by chanting a familiar song:

Despite losing out in a solid first round for Urbina, Pendred recovers well and goes on to take the second and third to book a place in the semi-final. Watch the full fight here:
