ROGER FEDERER HAS been sensationally knocked out of Wimbledon, after his opponent Jo-Wilfried Tsonga came back from two sets down to beat Federer 6-3 7-6 4-6 4-6 4-6, dropping to his knees following victory over the six-time champion.

Having won the first set with relative ease, it appeared all over after Federer won a tie-breaker in the second set.

The French player fought back however, winning a break point early in the third set, before going on to win it.

Tsonga repeated the trick in the next two sets to defeat Federer, who had never lost a Grand Slam match from two sets ahead before today.

In the other semi-final, Novak Djokovic overcame his protege at Wimbledon on Wednesday, holding on to reach the semi-finals for the third time in his career with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over 18-year-old Australian qualifier Bernard Tomic.

Djokovic has been practicing with Tomic on-and-off since the two became friends last year in Australia. This was the first meeting between the two in a competitive match.

Djokovic will face 2008 Australian Open finalist Tsonga in the semi-finals.
