FERNANDO TORRES HAS been named in the Spain side to face Ireland in Gdansk later this evening.

The striker, who endured an indifferent season at club level with Chelsea, has been given the nod to play upfront after being left out of his side’s last match against Italy.

Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas makes way for Torres, with Spain opting to ditch the ‘false 9′ approach they adopted in their opening game.

Elsewhere, the side is unchanged, as expected, from the team that drew 1-1 with Italy.

Spain team to face Ireland: Casillas; Arbeloa, Ramos, Pique, Alba; Busquets, Alonso, Xavi, Silva; Torres, Iniesta.
