Top of the world, Ma! Rory McIlroy reclaims number one ranking

The record-setting eight-shot victory on the wind-swept Ocean Course sees the Holywood star vault ahead of England’s Luke Donald again.

RORY MCILROY HAS returned to the world number one spot in the latest golf rankings after his record-breaking victory at the US PGA championship at Kiawah Island, South Carolina last night.

The 23-year-old closed with a six-under 66 in the final major championship of the season, with a record-setting eight-shot victory on the wind-swept Ocean Course, to vault ahead of England’s Luke Donald in the rankings.

McIlroy first earned the number one ranking earlier this year after his Honda Classic victory on the PGA Tour but, ten weeks after being dethroned by Donald, he finds himself back on top once more.
