11 signs Tony Soprano would have made a great GAA manager

Woke up this morning, got myself a ban from the CCCC.

First published last month; RIP James Gandolfni.

HE MANAGED A large panel of quick spiky characters, showed keen tactical awareness for several eventful seasons and ultimately got results. He think Tony Soprano would have looked good in a bainisteoir bib. Here’s why:

11. His natural enthusiasm on the sideline is infectious

10. He’ll hunt you down if you miss training

9. His management style can be quite hands-on

As befits the modern game these days.

8. And he’s not averse to hopping a hurley off the dressing-room table at half-time

7. He’s not impressed with the media

‘Were they watching the game at all?’

6. He’s got a few handy lads on the line with him

Every successful manager has a couple of ‘brought in’ to the backroom team. Ger Loughnane had Tony Considine; Big T has Paulie Walnuts.

5. He’s a big thinker on the game

‘How are we gonna get through that blanket defence?’

4. He has a few tactical switches up his sleeve

3. He fancies himself in the club’s golf classic every year

2. He finds the day after a county final defeat HARD

1. But a win over the Bally boys is heaven

What have we missed?

How could you take Sergio Aguero seriously in these new boots?

ITV say they had to cut Jose Mourinho’s interview last night

Imagine him and Paidi O’Se on opposite benches? I’d fancy Paidi.

The Wire is not better, it’s confusing: “which black guy is this now?”.

I know it’s meant as a bit of fun, but I think this is pretty tasteless

Another good reason not to go on “anti-depressants” and mess with the natural body chemistry. Tony Soprano was having “elevation problems” thanks to the SSRI Prozac ~
