TOM MCGLINCHEY IS set to be ratified as the new Waterford senior football manager.

The Cork native previously managed Tipperary between 2000 and 2003, almost guiding them to a famous Munster title win against Cork in 2002 when they finished level in Thurles before being beaten convincingly in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

McGlinchey was coach to the Ballylanders team that won the Limerick senior football championship in 2007 and also coached the Limerick minor footballers in recent years. He was linked with the Limerick senior football manager job in 2010.

McGlinchey will take over from Niall Carew, who this week was ratified as the new Sligo senior football boss.
