Toby Flood takes to Twitter to deny Toulouse rumours

The Leicester Tigers out-half has cut out the middle men to get his message to the fans.

ENGLAND INTERNATIONAL TOBY Flood has denied strong rumours linking him with a move to French side Toulouse at the end of the season.

The Leicester Tigers out-half is out of contract next summer and French radio station RMC Sport last night suggested that Flood had penned a deal with the Top 14 club. The 28-year-old had previously been linked with Toulon, who have the demanding task of replacing the retiring Jonny Wilkinson on their hands.

RMC‘s story had been picked up by several other news organisations in France, and elsewhere in the world, apparently sparking Flood’s reaction on social media site Twitter. The creative Tigers playmaker posted this message to his followers this afternoon:

It’s certainly refreshing to see a rugby player directly addressing transfer rumours, and Irish supporters would surely love to read something similar from the Sean O’Brien and Jamie Heaslip.

Flood has earned 60 caps for his country, but has fallen well behind incumbent Owen Farrell in recent seasons. Wherever Flood decides to continue his club career, it is likely to have an impact on his ability to increase that total of appearances for England.
