Tipperary stick with same team for Munster U21 hurling final

The Premier meet Clare in tomorrow night’s decider in Semple Stadium.

TIPPERARY HAVE NAMED an unchanged team for tomorrow night’s Bord Gáis Energy Munster U21 hurling final against Clare.

Manager Ken Hogan has opted to keep faith with the side that crushed Cork by 5-19 to 2-13 in their semi-final tie.

That victory saw Tipperary build on their quarter-final win in May over Limerick by 2-18 to 2-11.

And now for the third successive game they will be in action in Semple Stadium as they seek to claim honours in the final which throws in at 7.30pm and is live on TG4.

Tipperary will be hoping to gain revenge for last year’s heartbreaking Munster U21 final loss when they conceded a last minute goal to Clare’s Niall Arthur and were defeated by 1-16 to 1-14 in Ennis.

From their current team, corner-back Andrew Ryan, midfielders Brian Stapleton and Justin Cahill, centre-forward Jason Forde, wing-forward Niall O’Meara and corner-forward Liam McGrath all started in that game.

Corner-forward Aidan McCormack was introduced as a second-half substitute during that match.

TIPPERARY: Darragh Mooney (Eire Og Annacarty); Cathal Barrett (Holycross Ballycahill), Michael Breen (Ballina), Andrew Ryan (Toomevara); Joe O’Dwyer (Killenaule), Tomás Hamill (Killea), Seamus Kennedy (St. Marys Clonmel); Brian Stapleton (Templederry Kenyons), Justin Cahill (Kilruane MacDonagh’s); Tommy Heffernan (Eire Og Nenagh), Jason Forde (Silvermines), Niall O’Meara (Kilruane McDonaghs); Aidan McCormack (Thurles Sarsfields), Bill Walsh (Carrick Swan), Liam McGrath (Loughmore Castleiney).
