THE NEW YORK JETS may have chewed Tim Tebow up and spat him out but the occasional quarter-back still has his suitors.
According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, it is a “virtual certainty” the Jets backup quarterback will find himself playing with the Jacksonville Jaguars next season.
Such a trade would mean Tebow would head back to the state where he became a college football legend.
ESPN believe Tebow will be traded or released after the season, with it being more probable that the Jets will honour the 25-year-old’s request to be released.
The Jaguars had a look at Tebow in the last off-season when he was put up for a trade by the Denver Broncos.
They were, however, already committed to 2011 first-round pick Blaine Gabbert and could not promise the former University of Florida QB playing time.
Gabbert’s form has been inconsistent at best this season and a series of injury niggles have not helped.
Ian Rapoport from nfl.com could not get an on-the-record quote from the Jaguars franchise but was told by a team source that Tebow ‘would be a Jaguar’ next season.
Tebow has started just two NFL matches this season as Mark Sanchez and Greg McElroy have enjoyed the favour of coach Rex Ryan.
