IT’S FAIR GAME for fans — and even some newspapers — to remind Manchester City of their post-Christmas obligations in the Europa League.
But it now seems that some of the Premier League’s big mouths are taking the opportunity to have a sly dig at City’s expense.
The Daily Mail reports that Ashley Cole sparked a post-match row in the Stamford Bridge tunnel on Monday when he taunted City players with chants of “Thursday night, Channel 5″.
In his post-match press conference, Roberto Mancini blamed Cole for the fracas after a late Frank Lampard penalty condemned City to a 2-1 defeat, their first in the Premier League this season.
But the Italian said that he had no idea what the Chelsea left-full had said to provoke his players.
“I don’t know if Cole said something, I don’t know what he said. I don’t understand,” Mancini told reporters. ”But I think if the Chelsea players are saying we are a top team then this is a compliment.”
Whatever he said, it wasn’t meant as a compliment, Roberto. Trust us.
What a charmer.
It’s about time he something constructive !!!!
