The Youtube Chart

A football in a famous groin, comic-book NBA action and comedy royalty sings with boxing’s best.

IT’S A HARD-KNOCK life for us – but take five minutes out to see what’s hottest on YouTube this week in a world of sport that’s never, ever camera-shy.

8. Norwegian stars John Arne Riise and Morten Gamst Pedersen teach teammate Erik Huseklepp about the dangers of eating pick ‘n’ mix through the medium of autotune. Fruity.

7. Just in time for Christmas, a new Irish rugby film will fill plenty of fathers’ stockings we’d guess.

Focusing on the club scene in this country, the trailer for Rugby: A Love Affair features cameos from Paulie, Fla, Axel and all the boys. [HT Balls.ie]

6. Ok geeks, you’ll like this one. Marvel Comics – those guys repsponsible for Spiderman, X-Men, Fantastic Four et al – helped ESPN: the magazine out with their NBA season preview edition.

Casting Dwight Howard as Wolverine and LeBron as Captain America, this was always gonna be worth a look. They even animated the editorial meeting.

5. Eight-year-old Newcastle lad Jack McBride wowed the TV cameras on Tyne-Wear derby day with his antics.

He revealed later that his grandmother thwarted a plan to copy Newcastle winger Jonás Gutiérrez’s Spiderman celebration as she refused to allow him to take a green Halloween monster mask onto the pitch.

4. NFL star Randy Moss is trouble. He moved from the Patriots to Brett Favre’s Minessotta a few weeks ago in a shock move, really – but this week he was released by the Vikings.

The wide reiever – known for picking his battles on the field – lost the support of his new teammates when he criticised the post-game meal a local restaurateur prepared for the squad. What a guy.

There’s a round-up of some of his best Youtube moments down the years here.

3. Apart from his micky-fit at the dinner table due to a chewy steak – Moss is said to have been shipped out so quickly because his apparent lack of effort on the field earlier played a role in Brett Favre’s near decapitation.

The controversial veteran QB – who is currently embroiled in a ‘sexting’ investigation – had his jaw broken and badly lacerated against the Pats in a play involving Moss.

Here he is getting a football in the groin in practice last week. Poetic, isn’t it?

Obviously, within minutes, someone mashed it up with a famous Simpsons episode.

2. We mentioned this earlier in the week but it’s worth a replay. It’s like when Elaine becomes friends with ‘bizarro’ Jerry in Seinfeld. Meet the Italian Paul Merson who reacts comically to a Gareth Bale XI beating Inter in midweek. Up is down, people.

1. Together at last: Hollwood fun-ster Will Ferrell, boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and dead Beatle John Lennon. On Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night chat show this week Ferrell and Pacquiao sang, and you’ll like this, Imagine. [H/T Off The Ball]
