The shin-kicking championships looks as painful as it sounds

This is one sport we will not be signing up for.

DOVER HILL IN in Gloucestershire, England recently hosted the annual shin-kicking championships.

The competition, which is in its 401st year, oddly enough sees competitors stuff straw in their trousers and attempt to boot the shins off each other while grappling in a field.

It’s a skilful sport,” event chairman Graham Greenall says with a straight face.

James Wiseman, one of the judges, adds: “They (fans) like to see people get hurt. It’s the same reason people watch Formula One and wait for the crashes.”

Hmm, okay.
