1. #LONDON 2012 Take a deep breath, here we go again. Expect the entire country to come to a standstill at around 2pm and turn its gaze towards London as Katie Taylor steps into the ring to fight Mavzuna Chorieva of Tajikistan for a place in the Olympic lightweight final and at a minimum, a silver medal.
Later tonight, Paddy Barnes will look to follow the example of Nevin, Taylor and Ireland’s latest medal winner Michael Conlan when he comes up against Devendro Laishram of India in the light-flyweight quarter-finals (8.45pm).

2. #LONDON 2012 Conlan’s bronze-medal victory might be the front page splash in Ireland today but around the world, it is Australia’s Sally Pearson who has stolen the headlines. Pearson set a new Olympic record to win a viciously competitive 100m hurdles final, beating American trio Dawn Harper, Kellie Wells and Lolo Jones into second, third and fourth with a time of 12.35 seconds.
Elsewhere on the track, there was joy for Algeria’s Taoufik Makhloufi in the men’s 1,500 metres, Robert Harting of Germany in the discus and Russia’s Ivan Ukhov in the high jump.
3. #KINGDOM Jack O’Connor may be entering the home stretch of his reign as Kerry senior football manager. TheScore.ie understands that O’Connor is seriously considering whether to remain at the helm for 2013 following last Sunday’s Championship exit at the hands of Donegal.
4. #SUAREZ Luis Suarez declared his love for Liverpool last night as he signed a new long-term deal to commit his future to the Anfield club.
“When you are a kid, everybody wants to play for Liverpool,” the Uruguyan striker said. “I am here now and it is a dream for me, and now I am a Liverpool fan.”
5. #USPGA Ahead of the season’s final major, world number two Tiger Woods has said that he has 10 years to match Jack Nicklaus’s record haul of 18 major titles.
Woods, 36, tees off at the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island tomorrow morning.
6. #CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Celtic take a slender one-goal advantage to Finland tonight as they lo0k to progress past HJK Helsinki into the play-off round of the Champions League qualifiers. Neil Lennon’s men won last week’s home leg 2-1 thanks to goals from Gary Hooper and Charlie Mulgrew.
